  • Reflect on what it takes to make a successful shot after heart rate increases

MATERIALS

  • Track with Infield
  • 4 to 6 Targets
  • One disc per student or ten discs per station
  • Cones or Flags
  • Activity Placard or Sign

SET-UP

  • Targets should be placed every 50 to 100 meters around the track on infield or outfield space
  • Create stations at each target with a prescribed putting and physical activity marked on the placard

OBJECTIVE

Traverse the track and complete the activity stations as prescribed. Choose some activities that will get students heart rate up a bit before they putt.

HOW TO PLAY

Lesson: (20-30 minutes)
Track your Putt combines the activity of walking the track with mini activities involving physical activities and disc golf putting fundamentals. Assign each of the targets around the track a physical task and a putting activity to complete while at that station. The number of stations depends on space, number of targets and class size.
Stations are meant to break up the walk and allow for a few tests of concentration and skilled practice. Have students perform the physical activity first and then the prescribed putt.
Physical tasks can include:
-Jog in place -Jumping Jacks -Mtn. Climbers -Burpees -Push-Ups -Sit-Ups

Stations may consist of a variety of putting activities, here are a few:
-20 foot Freestyle Putt (anyway they want)
-15 foot Forehand Putt
-25 foot Straddle Putt
-Putt from a knee
-40 foot Jump Putt
-Anhyzer putt around object
-Putt through a hoop or over an object
-Hyzer putt around object
-Short Approach shot to circle around target

The sky is the limit on varying and matching up the activities at each station. The putting activity should consist of attempting 3-5 putts depending on class size. Each student can have a disc they are responsible for walking with and using at stations or have a set number of discs per station. Make sure students are aware of others throwing and are responsible for retrieving their own thrown discs.

This activity can work well with having partners.
